When I first started coaching I didn't think that I could be successful openly being who I was. The people I saw at the top, all looked a certain way and had certain lifestyles that were totally opposite from mine. Because of that, I tried to hide who I was and blend in with the crowd. It was wrong, it was cowardice, and it totally defeated the purpose of what I am doing here as a coach.
Over time, I learned that my success depended on how REAL I was, how HONEST I was, my ability to HELP others, and my passion. I realized that just because I felt that my community was underrepresented didn't mean that I couldn't step up and be the one to represent.

At coach summit this past weekend I had a vision. I saw myself walking across the stage waving my flag proudly. You see, I have attracted some amazing people to my team. We are gay, straight, and everything in between. We have developed a culture of OPENNESS, REALNESS, and BADASSERY (totally not a word but is now). The main thing that I realized at summit this past weekend was that I have an undeniable and overwhelming feeling that I am on this Earth to SERVE others. Part of me serving others is building a team of coaches who also want to serve. I can't do it alone.

We had 13 amazing people from TeamBstrong represent at summit this year. My goal for next year is to double that number. I can't serve as many people as I'd like to by myself. I need a crew...a team...a family.

I just tried out this Quinoa and Black Bean Salad recipe from the new 21 Day Fix cookbook  called Fixate  that is being released next week...SO GOOD! Recipe Thursday: Fall Detox Vegetable Soup

I am a Boston girl born and raised but honestly I am cold more often than not. For that reason as soon as summer ends I start to get sad and panic about how I am going to keep myself warm all winter. One way that works for me is to make a lot of warm soups so that I can warm myself up from the inside out!  When I posted the choices for this week's Recipe Thursday , the concern over the word "detox" was thoroughly entertaining. Trust me, I get it. In the past, the word detox meant spending an entire day in the....well you get the point. Anthony Kiedis: Over 50 and Red Hot

When Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers came on stage Sunday night the first thing that came to my mind was, "damn, he looks good". The second thing was, "I wonder how old he is". So obviously I went right to google and did some research. The information I found went above and beyond what I was expecting to learn. Anthony is 51 years old. He is a dad of a 5 year old boy who is named after his favorite band, his godfather was Sonny Bono, and he was voted sexiest male vegan by PETA. Because he seems so fit and healthy, it surprised me to learn that Anthony had actually been an avid drug user and heroin addict in the past. He even contracted the hepatitis C virus from his experimentation. He was addicted to some bad things, that were draining his life.
