Coming in January: 80 Day Obsession
When I joined my first challenge group almost 6 years ago now things were very different. Programs were 90 days long and 45 minutes to an hour which was a HUGE commitment, but since I wanted lasting change, I put in the work. I completed two 90 day programs before shorter programs began to come out. First, they were 60 days, then 30, then 21...
I'm not knocking the shorter programs. I realize that people don't have a ton of time to devote to workouts or want to see quick wins, but I realized a change in my own mindset when programs began to be shorter. It became less about building my mind and body and more about fitting it into my busy life. For many people that is a great thing, but for me, I LOVE the work part of building myself. My first two programs didn't just craft and build my body into a stronger version, it crafted and built my mind as well which is what I needed most.
When I heard that Autumn Calabrese was going old school and bringing us a hardcore program that was 80 days and had longer workouts, my crazy ass got pumped up and I couldn't wait for it to be released. There is just something about committing to 80 days, committing to something hardcore that pumps me up. On top of that, Autumn was changing up the nutrition to something I had never tried, timed nutrition. After a few years of short programs, and the same nutrition, I am beyond ready to tackle 80-day obsession! Here's what it is all about...
Autumn wanted to create a program that targeted 3 key areas...my favorite areas, triple-A: ass, arms, and abs! She created a workout program that provided an effective step by step approach to building a shaped, curvy booty while also shrinking the core. For 80 days we get focused on our fitness and nutrition to create some amazing results. The cool thing about this program is that Beachbody on demand members actually get to experience each day of the program in real time. Starting on January 15th, 2018, each new workout will be posted or us to do along with the cast so we can experience it as well. We will feel like we are right there on the floor with Autumn and the cast!
This is an extreme program for anyone who wants to shape their butt and flatten their abs, but I would say it really isn't a beginner program although there is a modifier. If you are committed and dedicated to making real changes in your mind, nutrition, and body then this is a program for you. Daily workouts range from 45-60 minutes and last for 80 days!
The workouts themselves are extreme, but the nutrition guidelines are also pretty demanding as well. With 80-day obsession, participants follow a professionally calibrated macro-nutrition plan perfectly timed to produce bad ass results at each phase of the program. This program was crafted to help you get in the best shape of your entire life and Autumn Calabrese left no stone unturned.
80 Day Obsession requires a set of light, medium, and heavy weights as well as resistance loops, sliders, and a mat.
Although the program uses the portion fix containers for measurement purposes, it is nothing like the 21 Day Fix or any other Beachbody programs out right now. 80 Day Obsession uses timed nutrition which means that you are eating at specific times of the day including a pre and post-workout meal. The Beachbody Performance line is also a big part of the program and from what I have heard from the test group was needed to help them recover from the workouts. Something new with time nutrition that we haven't seen in past Beachbody programs is the re-feed day! On re-feed days you increase your carbs to refuel your body. You get 4 re-feed days throughout the program.
