5 Tips to Increase Your Energy
Tip #1: Eat a Healthy High Protein Breakfast!
Starting your day with a well balanced breakfast is so important! Research actually proves that eating breakfast helps people feel better both physically and mentally in those morning hours. Eating a high protein breakfast will keep you feeling full and alert. Pairing a lean protein with a complex carb will give you the perfect balance. Some high protein/complex carb breakfast options are: veggie omelettes, non-fat greek yogurt with blueberries, natural peanut butter with banana on whole grain toast.

Tip #2: Drink Water/ Stay Hydrated
Drinking water is crucial when it comes to keeping the body and mind energized and clear. 60% of our bodies are made up of water! To keep our bodies running efficiently and energized staying hydrated is crucial. Not sure how much water you should be drinking during the day? Click here.
Tip #3: Get Moving!
A body in motion stays in motion. Studies have shown that even taking just a 10 minute walk can keep you feeling revved up for up to 2 hours. Take a walk on your lunch break. If you work in an office building take the stares instead of the elevator, or park your car as far away from the door as possible. Even taking these little steps can improve your energy.
Tip #4: Eat Healthy Snacks
I like to eat every 2-3 hours. At each meal I pair lean protein with complex carbs. This keeps your blood sugar level and your energy level steady. According to Harvard Health, "This approach can reduce your perception of fatigue because your brain, which has very few energy reserves of its own, needs a steady supply of nutrients. Some people begin feeling sluggish after just a few hours without food". Some example of smart snack choices that pair lean protein and complex carbs are: celery with all natural peanut butter, veggies with hummus, non fat greek yogurt with blueberries.
Tip #5: Get Enough Sleep!
Sleep deprivation can be detrimental to your lifestyle, diet, and energy level. Make it a priority to get 7-9 hours of sleep every night. I was having an issue with waking up multiple times throughout the night so I took the following steps that really helped to solve that problem:
- Leave all electronics off and away from your bed, especially cell phones.
- Try using sounds. I use an app called Relax Melodies.
- Read a book before bed instead of watching t.v.
- Don't eat before bed.
These 5 tips will help you to increase your energy. One major way that I increased my energy was by adding shakeology to my diet. Many times we are lacking energy because our bodies are lacking the proper vitamins and nutrients it needs to make it thrive. I get these from shakeology. That is a post for another day!
