Piyo: Get Yours First, Get Results.

There has been a lot of talk on social media about a new fitness program that is coming out called Piyo. I had the chance to try a live version of this workout when I went on my teams leadership retreat, and all I can say is it is a good one! Since I have only done it once, I decided to do some research so that I could provide you all with some information about what Piyo is.

What I have learned thus far about Piyo is that:


  • It is a high intensity, low impact workout. What that means is that it will get you ripped without all the jumping around that is involved with other workouts. This means that if you are prone to injury, or are just coming back from being injured, this program will work you out with less risk of being injured again. 
  • Piyo fuses the muscle strengthening benefits of pilates with the core strengthening and stretching benefits of yoga, but it speeds everything up so that you still get that calorie burn
  • People have seen fast results!
  • It sculpts and defines your body with no weights, and no equipment.
  • This program is made for ALL ages, and ALL fitness levels.
  • You get a serious calorie burn while lengthening, and toning your muscles, and increasing your flexibility.

So I have always been a lover of high intensity programs like T25 and P90X, but I have accepted that I am getting older, and sometimes my body needs a workout that is low impact. Also, lately I have found it more difficult to see the results in my core section that I have been looking for. I have also had a glute injury in the past, and know that it is essential for me to incorporate yoga and pilates into my routine. For these reasons I am excited to launch a Piyo Test Group on July 7th.




What are the details?

The workouts range from 25-45 minutes long and include:

  • Align (46 mins.) The fundamentals
  • Upper Body (35 mins.) A focused workout that will strengthen and stretch your entire body while building on what you learned in Align.
  • Define: lower body (25 mins.) Shape and tone everything from your glutes, hamstrings, quads and calves gently, yet effectively to help you get sleek and lean legs. 
  • Sweat (35 mins.) A traditional Piyo workout that is fast paced with body weight strength training and ab work. 
  • Core (30 mins.) An ab-centric workout that targets every angle of the abdominal muscles and back. 
  • Drench (45 mins.) A total body workout that will get your metabolism going.
  • Strength Intervals (25 mins.) Designed to tone your body, and burn major calories with no weights. 
  • Sculpt (30 mins.) Intense, fully body workout. No weights required.
