Beachbody Performance: Energize
What is Energize?
Energize is a lemon flavored pre-workout drink from the Beachbody Performance Line rooted in cutting-edge sports science, exercise physiology, and nutrition research. Performance line products were developed by a team led by Dr. Nima Alamdari, Ph.D., who is a Harvard-trained exercise physiology/nutrition scientist, and Beachbody's Director of Scientific Affairs.
Energize was designed specifically to help you work harder and for longer. The three key ingredients are beta-alanine, low-dose caffeine, and quercetin which are cutting-edge ingredients that help to improve performance, sharpen focus, and delay exercise-induced muscle fatigue.
Beta-alanine is an amino acid that makes carnosine, a substance in your muscles that buffers muscle acid buildup which contributes to muscle fatigue. By consuming beta-alanine you produce more carnosine which will help your muscles to last longer so that you can push yourself harder and get better results! Studies indicate that beta-alanine is especially effective at improving performance during intense exercise bouts, making it ideal for high-intensity interval training and anaerobic training, which are a major component in many Beachbody programs.
Low-dose caffeine from green tea which is used in Energize has been an accepted component of the training and competition arsenal for athletes around the world. Low-dose caffeine has been shown to be ergogenic which means that it can help to enhance energy, improve reaction time, focus, and reduce fatigue. It works via the central nervous system, delivering signals to your brain that give you both a mental and physical boost. Studies have shown benefits to athletes ranging from recreational to elite in a variety of settings, including cycling, running, and various team sports.
Quercetin is a phytonutrient that has drawn attention for its ability to help improve exercise performance and recovery. Studies done by leading exercise physiology-nutrition laboratories show that quercetin helps to improve performance and fitness in healthy people.
