When a friend first told me about Beachbody and Shakeology, it took a while to sell me on the idea. I thought I ate pretty healthy already, and didn't think I needed to change anything. I didn't understand what was so great about Shakeology, and was not excited about spending money on it. After realizing that to see a change, I needed to make a change I decided to give it a try. I must say, it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. For me, Shakeology is like a drug.....I'm addicted! Only instead of ruining my health and life like street drugs would do, it makes both things better!
Within the first week of drinking Shake-O I noticed positive changes. Before shakeology, around 3:00pm every day I would start having headaches and constantly yawning...that stopped! Also, the "not feeling good" all the time thing also faded. Before shakeology I always felt sick. I constantly complained about having a stomach ache, headache, being tired or sick. It was always something! I annoyed myself with my complaints, not to mention the poor souls around me! Since I started drinking Shakeology I have not taken one sick day from work (sometimes I'm cursing it!). It has increased my energy, helped with snack cravings, and I seem to be digesting things easier and better. Overall, I feel damn good.
So what makes Shakeology so great you ask? Well, it has a shitload of healthy ingredients hand picked from all over the world! Stuff that people have been using since the ancient times!(seen pictured left). It is crazy what has happened with the food we eat in this country over the years. Every day we consume un natural, man made ingredients. Even our soil doesn't have the nutrients that it use to. This concerns me because it means that we are not getting vital things necessary to keep our bodies strong and healthy. Our bodies are starving for good, nutrient dense foods! Now I could go on for days about un natural, processed food and drinks but for the sake of explaining Shakeology I won't. Below is a great video with p90x creator Tony Horton explaining some benefits of Shakeology.
Do you want to try Shakeology, but think you can't afford it? Here are my suggestions to cover the cost.
-Stop going to Starbucks or Dunkins. I use to drink at least one Starbucks coffee a day totaling over $5 at least. I stopped going to Starbucks and started making coffee at home. Now every morning I put it in my shake and it tastes like a frozen coffee drink!
-Stop going to ATM's that charge you fees
- Cut down on going out to eat.
-Use a refillable water bottle instead of buying new ones.
-Return your families recyclables for the cash.
There are lots of things that you can do to save $4 a day. The bottom line is, if your health is important to you then you will find a way, and if it isn't you will find an excuse.

I am a Boston girl born and raised but honestly I am cold more often than not. For that reason as soon as summer ends I start to get sad and panic about how I am going to keep myself warm all winter. One way that works for me is to make a lot of warm soups so that I can warm myself up from the inside out! When I posted the choices for this week's Recipe Thursday , the concern over the word "detox" was thoroughly entertaining. Trust me, I get it. In the past, the word detox meant spending an entire day in the....well you get the point. As I came to learn more about nutrition I began to understand that "detox" does not mean that you will not be able to leave your house for days, all it means is that you are cleansing your body of toxins in a healthy way. I kid, I kid...my point is that the Fall Vegetable Detox Soup was the winner this week and eating it does not mean that you will have to cancel your plans for the day. I found this soup reci
I just tried out this Quinoa and Black Bean Salad recipe from the new 21 Day Fix cookbook called Fixate that is being released next week...SO GOOD! If this is any indication as to what the rest of the book entails then we are in for a MAJOR 21 Day Fix upgrade! This will be what I bring to the next cookout I am invited to. People will have no idea that it is actually healthy for them because it tastes so good! Serves 12 (1 cup each) Prep Time: 30min. Cooking Time: 12 min. The 3-Day Refresh Cleanse came out last week, and I am sure you are all wondering what a day of meals would look like if you were to do this cleanse. I have decided to put this post together so that I can simply show you how the cleanse will go day by day. Day 1- (Upon waking drink 8-10 oz. of filtered water.) Breakfast(within 1 hour of waking): Shakeology blended in 1 1/4 cups filtered water. Plus 1 serving from the fruit list. I chose half of a banana and actually added it into my shake. I added ice, and cinnamon which is on the guilt-free flavorings list that they provide us. I made it the same way all 3 days. Optional: Morning Tea (at least one hour after breakfast) 1 cup unsweetened herbal or green tea. (stevia sweetener allowed) I chose not to do this because I was fine drinking my water. Mid-Morning(at least 1 hour after morning tea): Fiber Sweep (digestive health drink) mixed in 1 cup filtered water. The first day I did not add enough
