The 21 Day Fix. What are all these colorful containers in my newsfeed??

I just sat down and created my first 21 day fix meal plan for the week and decided I would post it to Facebook. Many people responded by asking me what all the colors meant. So I have decided to write a post about what this 21 day fix thing is and why you keep seeing all these color coded meal pictures all over your Facebook news feed, because if I wasn't a coach I would have no idea what was going on and realize you must feel the same.

So what are all these color coded thingys? No they aren't adult building blocks (although sometimes I build a tower with them for fun).


21 day fix review, 21 day fix containers, 21 day fix, beachbody coach The 21 day fix is a new fitness program put out by Beachbody. This program is awesome because it makes fitness and nutrition simple. There is no calorie counting, guessing, and no wondering if what you are doing is right. For 21 days you use the containers to portion your meals. All you do is find the chart in the book that comes with the program that corresponds to your calorie level and see what container combination pertains to you. From there you spread the containers across your day and plan your meals accordingly. Basically all you have to do is follow the portion control system, and do the 30 minute workouts to see results. Some people have lost up to 15 pounds in 21 days. This program is perfect for those of you who are looking to get in shape for an upcoming vacation, summertime, wedding, prom....whatever it may be.

  • Green—Vegetables
  • Purple—Fruit
  • Red—Protein
  • Yellow—Carbohydrates
  • Blue—Healthy Fats and Cheese
  • 2 Orange—Seeds and Oils

So I am usually a fly by the seat of your pants kind of girl, but lately I have been having some major snacking and portion issues that were starting to take a toll on me. That being said I needed a plan to tackle this issue, and the 21 day fix was the perfect fit. At first I was worried that figuring out a meal plan with all these containers was going to be difficult, but it wasn't. It took me a few meals to get the hang of, and then I was good to go. For my body type I use 4 red, 3 green, 2 purple, 2 yellow, 1 blue, 1 orange, and 2 teaspoons per day.

Yesterday was the first day of eating using the containers and I must say that I am loving it! Using the containers really helped me because I normally put too much on my plate and end up eating it all just because it is there. Pre-portioning my meals and only putting what fit into the container onto my plate helped me stay on track. At no point did I feel hungry or feel like I needed more food. I actually felt like I was eating more than usual. I am excited to keep this up and see how it changes the way I think about my meals!
