When I started my first challenge group in January of 2012, I had my mind set that I was finishing the 90 days! I was sick of hearing myself SAY, "I want to get in shape" and "this time next year I will be in shape" but never actually following through. I was 29 years old with only a few short months left in my twenties and it was time to make a change. I was one of "those people". You know the kind that always say, "I feel fat" or "I wish I ate better" but never do anything to change it. One of my favorite sayings is "shit in one hand, wish in the other...let me know which one fills up first". And this was a perfect example of that. Something finally clicked in my head. I stopped talking about it, and started being about it! It was the best thing I ever did in my life. Little by little I started feeling good and changing both physically and mentally for the better. At first I really didn't notice that much of a difference. Had I not taken pictures and measurements at the beginning of the program and every thirty days after that, I would have given up early on. Thankfully I took them, and didn't give up. Now I am in the best shape of my life and continue to get better and better!
LES MILLS PUMP
My first fitness program was Les Mills Pump. It was a good choice for me because I was a beginner and hadn't worked out in forever.. My nights and weekends before the challenge began consisted of drinking lots of beers and smoking, so needless to say I was not in prime shape what so ever. Originally I thought that by the end of the 90 days I was going to be skinny and jacked, but that was not the case. I was a little disappointed, but what I and everyone else who starts on a program should realize is, my body didn't get to where it was over night. It took years of eating badly, drinking LOTS, and not caring about my health to get to that point. Therefor, it is also going to take time to get it back. Once I realized that point, I pushed myself even hard to reach my goal.
Above are my pictures from day 1 to day 90 doing Les Mills Pump. Although not the extreme results I was hoping for, I lost 4lbs (which doesn't seem like much but the scale doesn't matter as much as we think it does, I will get into that later!), 3.5 inches from my waist, 4 inches from my hips, and 4 inches from my chest, not to mention gained major muscle :)
After successfully completing my first program I was in the routine of working out and eating right. I decided I was ready to push myself and chose the mother workout P90X! It was harder than Les Mills, and the workouts were longer but I was ready to take on the challenge. I adapted the moves I couldn't do until I got better and busted my ass the best I could! I wasn't as diligent taking pictures during this program (wish I had been), but the measurements were still moving in the right direction! By the end of the 90 days of P90X since my journey began, I had lost: 11lbs, 7 inches in my waist, 6 inches in my hips, and 5 inches from my chest. I was able to do things I NEVER was before such as pull ups, one-handed push ups, and the crane! Oh and I also felt absolutely amazing!!
After finishing P90X, I needed to take some time of from doing a fitness program because of an injury. The Ultimate Reset had just come out on the market and it was a perfect fit! This is where my dedication to my healthy lifestyle really came into play. The reset was an amazing experience both inside and out. I blogged throughout my 21 day experience and you can read about it here!
This is my after picture for the reset!
Since the reset, my injury has healed and I have finished a many more of the Beachbody programs. Since then I have done Body Beast, and T25! Both had very different target points, but I must say that T25 is my favorite!
