There has been lots of excitement around the release of the 21 Day Fix Extreme this past Monday, myself included! I got my copy rushed to me, and now it is time to meal plan! What makes this program different from the regular 21 Day Fix is that everything is more extreme...hence the name. Both the workouts and the meal plan is amped up, which will be sure to make for some extreme results. I have tried two of the workouts so far, and so far I love what I have seen and can't wait to start for real tomorrow! I will be doing several rounds of this program leading up to the Beachbody Success Club trip in Cancun this April! I am bringing my best friend Liz who has a bikini competition the weekend before and will be in tip top shape. I figured if I am going to be sitting next to her on the beach, I also want to be bikini ready!
When it comes to Fix Extreme meal plans, there are two choices: The Extreme Meal Plan, and The Countdown to Competition.
Extreme Meal Plan
If you were like me and always stuck to the foods at the top of the list during the 21 Day Fix, not much has changed with the Extreme meal plan. I am still in the same calorie range, and use the same amount of containers. I will still be sticking to the foods at the top of the list, so maximize my results. For those of you who didn't stick to the top of the food list, and who liked your chocolate and wine cheats...I am sorry to tell you that those are gone. The good news is, this is only 21 days, and following this plan will bring you closer to your goal! Aside from the cheats being gone, there are lots of new recipes in this new book, like these veggie egg muffins!
Countdown to Competition
The countdown to competition meal plan is where the real changes come in. Basically how it goes is two days of the Countdown meal plan, then one day of the Extreme meal plan. For me the countdown container count went from 5 Red, 3 Green, 2 Yellow, 2 Purple, 1 Orange, 1 blue, and 2 teaspoons with the regular meal plan to 6 Reds, 3 Greens, and 1 Yellow in the countdown.
Since I will be doing more than one round of this program so I decided to not start out with the competition plan right out of the gate, but to start out by doing my own version of the meal plans combined. I am doing two days of the Extreme meal, followed by 1 of the countdown and so on. I am going to test this the first week and see how I feel about it. If all goes to plan I will follow this type of meal plan for the first two rounds, and move to the competition meal plan for my third round.
Basically, I am just really excited about this program! Why? Because I am going on vacation and have used that as motivation to get in the best shape of my life. The best part is that other than making my meal plan, I don't have to do any thinking! I just follow the workouts that are laid out for me, and push myself!
I honestly can't wait to wake up tomorrow morning and start my new plan! Do you have an event coming up that you want to get in shape for? Join my upcoming 21 Day Fix Extreme challenge group, just fill out the form below!
